Harvest Moon

Image
In the morning, we will have a Harvest Moon.  It is also a supermoon.  It's a sure sign of fall.  As if I need a sign.  It was wet the last few days and a bit cooler.  I've pulled out sweaters and coats with hoods to wear.   I went to the Women's Bible Student on Wednesday.  We are doing the Children of the Day lessons by Beth Moore.   Today I went to Young at Heart and heard about missionaries that has come back to Grace this past week.  Personally, I have not ever felt called to another country to do ministry.  Not everyone is.  I feel closer to my community.  The trees are turning colors now.  I hope it lasts a while.  I really like fall and enjoy decorating and dressing for it.

Missed... Fall Quarter Start

Image
Yesterday was the first fall quarter start since I retired.  I would dread it because I was exhausted after the first day.  It would be like that for two weeks, until it would calm down.  I do wish everyone a great year ahead!

Victorian Young Man

Image
This is a mourning brooch of a young man in the 1800s.  I've tried to identify the years by his clothes.  All I learned was because his tie was white, he might be dressed for the evening.  I wish I knew his name.  Probably William liike my two great grandfather's names.  It seemed to be a popular name.  I think this is special.  I really hope he didn't die in his 20s.  I know many people did of disease then... but that would be sad.   Fall's coming.  See you next week.

Autumn is Coming

Image
It seems Autumn doesn't take it's time coming like Summer does.  The mornings are getting to be quite cool.  Today it's raining.  I am not moving very fast either.  I think I'll go wash my hair and work on jewlery.  Riley starts classes today.  I go with him to have "me" time.  I may go walk around Highline where CWU is located.  Well, Fall is pretty much here and I am working on how I am going to enjoy each moment of it.

Summer's Last Hurrah

Image
Yesterday we were out and about in West Seattle.  We had lunch at the Seattle Fish Company, we shopped at a thrift store and bought a Autumn decoration.  We also bought doughnuts and cupcakes... I only took a bite of those.  It was from shops that specialized in the food.   Riley starts classes on Wednesday and Brady starts next Monday.  When they are in sxhool, it's very hard to take a day to do things together.  Here we go...

Aurumn Self Check Coming

Image
I skipped yesterday since all I did was Young @ Heart.  I did treat myself to a Chick Fil A salad for lunch.  I worked some on pendants.   As we approach Autumn, I do another self check.  I will focus on that in the blog posts next week.  Letting go is a theme and that's why I added this meme.   Have a good weekend.

Creativity

Image
My new hobby is making wire wrapped jewelry.  I am learning to be creative all over again.  There is no wrong way of doing things.  And, just begin... get yourself out of your way.   I made these during the last few weeks:   And doing more...

My Step dad Ron

My srep dad remarried after my mom died.  Now we are having concerns that the family is looking into.

September 11th

Image
This is my brother David.  He's ten years younger.  He's not had an easy life.  I had to seperate myself from his "mess" because my hands were full with other family commitments.  Anyway, I felt God telling me to now be open to David.   22 years ago he called me to tell me to look at the TV as the second of the Twin Towers was being flown into.  I thought if that this morning as I reflected on 9/11.   He had got back into drugs and I have to seperate myself until he got sober.  Today he called and we talked for a couple of hours.  I am in a different place. He's in a different place now.   September 11th

Our Study

Image
I kept forgetting to write yesterday.  In the morning I went to Young at Heart.  This is the study we are working on.  It's been pretty good.  This week it was on illness.  After the Covid pandemic, I can see why everyone may have this fear.  Seeing your two best friends die due to cancer can bring fear too.

Memorial Garden

Image
My mom passed in 2017.  Because I live in a different state and do not visit her grave, I had a stone for the garden made.  Then Riley's sister passed in 2021, my friend Barb in 2022, and now my friend Susie.  I had stones made for each of them.  I miss them but when I go to the memorial it reminds me how blessed I have been, and how blessed I am.

Dishwasher Day

Image
The dishwasher started to make a really bad loud noise.  It washed the dishes but it sounds like it could die at any moment.  So we took advantage of the Labor Day sales and ordered a new one.  It comes today.  They say 4 pm to 7 pm today they'll deliver... but things change.  We need a working dishwasher.  We use it daily at least once.  This should be good.

Keeping Busy

Image
If you think I am one to keep busy, then you haven't met Riley.  He showed me this giant series called One Piece that has just come out and is very popular.  I won't spoil it but give it a try if you have the time.

Goodbye August Hello September

Image
Yesterday was Young at Heart.  Then the boys and I went to Denny's to get our birthday breakfast.  It was fun to spend time with both boys at the table. I believe we should do that more often.   I then dropped off library books and went to Trades Joes.  Later I took a good nap.  Wednesday I didn't do much at all.  I did begin to reassess goals extra due to the month and season changing.
